I am retiring from Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville after 8 years of work and performances. Diamond Ice, the character I have portrayed during that time, will also be retired. It has been a long glamourous run, that I will continue as an independent performer. Thank you all for your support and friendship, especially that of Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville. |

Greetings from Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville. We would like to take this opportunity to make a few announcements concerning this season’s show schedule. As many of you know, we usually have a Valentine’s Day show and main stage shows throughout the year. This season, we are taking a break from our main stage shows in order improve several areas to make our show even better: our website is getting a makeover, glorious new costumes are being designed, reams of sizzling scripts are being penned, perilous feats are secretly being rehearsed! AND…appealing new acts are coming soon to dazzle you!
Don't worry, during hiatus, we will hardly be out of the limelight. You will still have chances to see our lovely ladies and gentlemen. Many smaller shows are in the works. There are also social events planned just for us to mix and mingle with you.
Instead of the usual Valentine’s Day show, many of our Big City Guys and Dolls can be found at the VFW in Decatur this Saturday night. The VFW will be featuring a sixteen-piece LIVE Big Band, and we plan to dance the night away with some war heroes. What better way to spend Valentine’s weekend?
Our next main stage show will be our Breast Cancer Benefit Charity Show in Fall 2010. All proceeds from this show will go to benefit breast cancer research and the families of those who have lost a loved one to cancer. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you there. Bring your friends and make it an incredible night out for all of us! We have been working diligently on our Pink Ribbon Photo Shoots and plan to offer some fabulous new merchandise to support the cause.
In the meantime, keep up with us on our Facebook and MySpace pages for announcements. Check out our Pink Ribbon Photos posted there and keep your eyes peeled for more information on the Breast Cancer Benefit Show.
In closing, we would like to thank you for your support as we continue striving to make Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville the best classic burlesque and vaudeville show in the US |

Dressing Up for Showing it Off
Burlesque and Vintage Costuming Panel at 7 pm, Friday 4th in M103–105.
Dragon*Con Cabaret Come see Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville at the Dragon*Con Cabaret with Stormy Knight, Scarlett Letter, Cherry Pitx, Jahara Phoenix and more at Midnight, Saturday, 5th at the Hyatt International Ballroom. Be sure to arrive early for the line. The Fire Marshall turned people away last year.
BCB&V and Guests Merch at the Marriott I'm not exactly sure where, but we're excited about the change of location. I'm hoping we'll have more traffic. We are selling lots of stockings (fishnets, seamed, etc.), burlesque aprons and BCB&V T-shrits. We'll also be auctioning an autographed, multi-photo frame with photos of the girls in their pink ribbons for breast cancer. I am selling three beautiful jewelry pieces (rhinestone/crystal necklaces with matching earrings) and opera length gloves (I think they're 16" to 18" – I looked at the packaging this morning, but I cannot remember now). I'm not sure what else the other girls are bringing. I hear New Orleans Jon has even made his own merch – what he's bringing is a surprise to you and me. We'll have plenty of goods for you to rifle :D

| DRAGON*CON membership increase! |
|
|
| 01:56pm 15/05/2009 |
| |
Be sure to order your 2009 Dragon*Con membership for $80 today! Tomorrow, they go up $10. The door rate is $100 for the weekend.
Of course, you can always get per diem passes, but you'll be waiting in registration for hours depending on what day you choose to attend the con. If you're participating in the parade 10 am Saturday, you will most likely not make it through reg and to line-up before the parade starts. All that getting ready for nothing! Oh the frustration of standing in line! Trust me, it's worth getting your weekend pass now. You cannot prepay for a Saturday daypass on Friday. 3-day passes are not sold on Friday. To order your 2009 Dragon*Con Membership, go to the Dragon*Con Online Store and pay with PayPal.
If you are interested in marching in the Dragon*Con Parade, you need to sign-up in advance with a group. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dc_parade/ to find a group. You must have a 2009 Dragon*Con membership to participate in the parade. There's plenty of choices from Fandom to Silk Road. A few of the BCB&V performers including myself have been marching with Salute II History for the past three years (wow, this makes four years!). If you want to march with us, you'll need to sign-up in their 2009 Parade Section Registration Database in the yahoo group (once there, click add record and input your info). Costuming is vintage military if you have it or WWII pin-up, the more authentic the better. Please do not sign-up to march in the parade if you cannot commit. You will have to make it to the parade meet-up that morning at 8 to 8:45 am in the Hyatt lobby. We'll distribute your parade ribbon then. At 8:45 am, we walk to the start of the parade and line-up.
The second annual Dragon*Con Cabaret is midnight on Saturday at the Hyatt featuring Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville and featured guests. If you are performing, you are responsible for your badge, accommodations and food. If you are interested in auditioning to perform at the Dragon*Con Cabaret, email Stormy Knight at stormyknight42@gmail.com.

| Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville at JordanCon 04.18 |
|
|
| 01:13pm 17/03/2009 |
| |
We will also be appearing at JordanCon April 17–19. This is a 1st-year con dedicated to author Robert Jordan. If you are a Wheel of Time Fan, this is sure to be loads of fun!
Please note that preregistration for JordanCon 2009 will close this weekend. Membership for all three days is priced at $60 per person. This includes admission to all panels, discussions, workshops and performances. Guests this year will include Harriet McDougal, Wilson Grooms, Brandon Sanderson, Tom Doherty, the Dabel Brothers, Jendayi Bellydance, Big City Burlesque and The Lost Boys. JordanCon was featured in two media outlets this weekend. The first is a profile on “Convention Fans Today“, a blog that follows genre conventions around the country and the people who attend them. There’s nothing new in there if you’ve been following the updates here, but it’s nice to see us mention somewhere that isn’t Wheel of Time specific. The author of that blog will have a post up for reviews of the convention after we’re done, so if you have something to say afterwords, that’s another place you can do it. The second is an interview with myself and my partner in crime, Jimmy on the 4th Age Podcast hosted by Dragonmount.com. This is also pretty packed with information, and I imagine there’s stuff in there you don’t know already. I can think of at least one thing I mention here that I haven’t posted anywhere. Please pass the word along about JordanCon. Jennifer Liang JordanCon Chair |

| YARD DOGS ROAD SHOW FRIDAY! |
|
|
| 05:39pm 09/09/2008 |
| |
with The Indigo Belly Dance Co. featuring Rachel Brice, Mardi Love and Zoe Jakes Friday, September 12, 8:30pm
The Yard Dogs Road Show is cabaret, vaudeville and rock and roll. In the enchanting land of stage show entertainment ours is both pleasant and formidable terrain. We require a sensitivity to the subtle and the absurd. We lead the modern hobohemian on a visual and sonic journey through part of history that may or may not have existed – followed by an ambitious return to the emotional challenges of our punch-drunk contemporary world. It’s a true story on stage: sword swallowers, dancing dolls, fire eaters and sunset hobo poetry - all animated by the live sounds of the Yard Dogs cartoon heavy band. Yard Dogs Road Show is pure visual and sonic voodoo.
Hey Athens kids, they will be at The Georgia Theatre, Thursday, September 11th at 8 pm, $20 for the show.
